car making funny noise

So i just drove about 20mins away to the seaside...parked up , no problems what so ever, car was fine and dandy!
Came back to my car two hours later , started it up , sounds like a flipping tractor, engine management light is flashing , limped back home at about 20-30mph.
Now i know thats not much to go on.......but any ideas what can cause this.....its a similar noise to when I had to have the bit replaced that holds manifold to cat , but i didnt have a flashing light when this happened.....i looked under car but i cant see anything :dapprove:

could be anything. map sensor? Does it smell of petrol or anything from the exhaust?

no smell of petrol

Is it miss firing ?

Could be something simple like a plug.

turned out to be an Injector
