Car Mat Clip Problem!

  200 Gordini No.159
Hey all

So I’ve recently bought a Clio RS 200 Gordini, no.159 /500.

It didn't come with any car mats :( and I know Renault do the limited edition Gordini car mats, so after hours of searching the web and eBay I ended up going to the Renault garage and buying direct from them!

After waiting a week for them to come in, I’ve picked them up today. Got home, fitted the mats and the Mat clips on don’t match up :( as you can see from the picture below.

Went back to Renault and they told me I can get a pair of pliers and pries the clips from the car carpet and re-screw them in back in place were they will match up with the Gordini mats. (Renault said it’s because the last owner must have had standard mats in there before and that’s where the standard mat clips are)

So the problem is I tried to take the clips out and can’t get them out, I don’t really want to force it in case I rip the carpet? Do I need to cut the carpet or do they screw out? Do I need the take the carpet out all together?

If anyone has done this before would like to know how you done it

Thanks very much

Ben

To conclude, avoid buying your fitted car mats from the car dealers. They charge an excessive price. You are better off buying fitted car mats, from a company which specialises in making them. It may well be that the company actually makes the fitted car mats for the car manufacturer.

Seems strange to me they would be shorter than the normal Clio mat.

You sure there not for a Gordini Twingo?
