Car not accelerating properly/ Revving fine though... ?? HELP!

Hey guys, I have a renault megane coupe (99) which has been running fine, up until today when on my way home the car would not accelerate properly, it's bogging down and I can hear a high pitched whistle noise coming from the engine block.. Its fine out of gear, only when I am in gear do I have this problem... Thanks for any help.

1.6 16v, I have run some redex through it and changed the air filter and fuel filter and sparks. Seems to have fixed it but I'll let you know if it happens again.. Thanks!
