Car Select Warranty

Has anybody had any dealings with an extended warranty provided by Car Select?

My mind needs putting to rest - Cambelt needs replacing at 33000 miles

I cant afford to be out of pocket this month

are you sure the cambelt needs changing at 33k, my mk2 172 is on 35k and you got me worried .

Erm yes... well mine only.

The tensioner is visually misaligned resulting in damage.

Has been diagnosed by Renault today and judging by the noise the car makes Im pretty sure!

Apparently its a common problem on the 172 engine - took that comment with a pinch of salt though.

mk1 172 cambelt change @ 72,000 miles or 5 years (from autodata 2003)

is mk2 not the same?

Normally the cambelt is changed on the 72k service but as he said his needs doing for other reasons. Read the small print but Id be guessing a cambelt would be classed as general wear and tear, if it snapped it would be a different thing altogether.

Errrm..................I wouldnt call that wear & tear............but thats just me eh

Just had a call from the service manager at my local Renault dealership, turns out when Car Select sold me the car they replaced the alternator however did not fit it correctly - (bracket). This has twisted therefore causing damage to the tentioner and so on. The cam belt is not being replaced luckily but im still going to be out of pocket for another £250 because of their incompetance

Im not happy being informed that ive been driving a potentially dangerous car since August last year

Must of been missed on an MOT test too.

Reckon its worth kicking up about?

It prob wouldnt have needed to be checked on MOT test, you would be suprised by how lax a test it really is, you can get away with alot at MOT.

You better believe it you cant accept this and say nothing..........Id be hauling them over the coals BEFORE they even start the work and I with a manager for sure

Go for it but keep your cool...........dont get all hot and bothered cause they will just take the hump then you will be up against it eh
