Car struggles to get going some times..

  Renault Clio Mk2
so basically some times while pulling away from junctions, lights etc.. the car will begin to pull away, but when it gets to about 3k revs then it stops pulling and feels as if i haven't got it in gear? if i change up it does the same, revs like mad without actually moving, usually have to put it into neutral and try again after, does go back to normal within 30 secs max, but is this a bad sign?:( also noticed today, when i do change up it will occasionally take a while for the revs to drop back down, almost like a delayed gear change? could this be the clutch on its way out?

any help would be appreciated!

btw its a 05 mk2ph2 16V 1.2 done about 97k miles

I'd say clutch, yep.

@fairm010 recently had the same issue mate and a new clutch sorted him out.
any chance of it getting worse very quickly? it doesn't do it everyday but it is atleast once a week i would say. got a lack of money atm, ( stupid tax office over taxing me by about £600:( so can't really afford to get it done atm)

Yep, it could get a lot worse quite quickly. Clutch cable could snap and you wouldn't be moving.

I don't think it's a too expensive job to be honest.

Where abouts are you located mate? I'd take it to one of the specialists on here and I'm sure they'll happily diagnose the issue for you and give you the best price possible.

I don't think there are any within 20 miles to be fair to you mate. Fred from BTM would probably have been the closest but he's shut down now and he was Birmingham IIRC.

I've used @MicKPM a fair few times, couldn't help you more if he tried but he's located near Nottingham.

@JP83 will be able to diagnose a dodgy clutch for you. He lives in Banbury.
think i'm going to take it down a garage at the weekend to get it checked over, pretty sure it is the clutch though:( too much redlining it trying to keep up with the boyz and drag races from the lights. (only joking, i'm not that guy;)
