car wont start, advice appreciated

i went to the library ( i'm a student) for a couple of hours if that. then when I went back to the car it wouldnt turn over, no ignition noise or anything, so i tried again... it tried to ignite but then died. then it was on off whether it tried to ignite or not.

so i got my dad to come and help me jump it but no luck... i dont know whether it would affect the jump using a diesel to jump a petrol but i thought i'd mention it. so i've left it in a street alone tonight :S gonna ring the garage first thing in the morning... does anyone know what could be up?

i had a service early last month, spark plugs changing etc

could be anything mate, best bet is to take it into a shop and let them have a look at it. it doesnt cost anything for them to tell you whats wrong with it then you can decide what you want to do - let them sort it or try and do it yourself if its simple!

i had it recovered and taken in to my mates garage today, they got it started but they dont know whats wrong with it... keeping it overnight and working on it tommorrow. thanks for the reply though
