Car Wont Start!! Battery/Stop/Electronic Fault

The lights in the title are lit up, car wont start - was fine - now stuck in ASDA car park

Not sure what you mean, not really car orientated.

It tries to start makes a noise as if its trying but something is stopping it, souds daft but I cant honestly describe it but Im desperate!

Its kind of the usual 'about to start' noise, but over and over.

Its kind of the usual 'about to start' noise, but over and over.

You realy need to give us some more info. Could be a stuck starter motor but without being there its no use trying to diagnose your car from such limited info.

I meant does the fuel pump start and does all the electrics work.

Electrics work fine, radio, windows etc.

Not sure about the fuel pump - how could i tell?

Bit dodgy as the car is 3 miles away.

You realy need the RAC out etc.

You can hear the fuel pump start also any reelays start usualy.

Does the starter work then? Ie the engine does turn over? Check realy the AUx belt it tuning when the startesrs running (AUX belt on the left hand side of the engine bay)

If Im right in thinking what you mean by turning over, yes it almost starts, makes the usual noises, but the engine just doesnt start but the engine is 'trying'.

Again, no idea how to test/check a starter motor, but shoud the AUX belt turn when Im 'turning the car over'

mate, could be the immobiliser,had exactly the same problem, does the dot in the middle flash or stay solid, turn the ignition on and leave it for a few seconds and then turn it over, or try your other key if u have one

Also cud be crank sensor...mine did the same

I have a full fat - it has ABS so I wont crash

RAC guy suggests its a crank sensor being faulty, gave a reading of 241( not sure of measurement) instead of 1000-3000 so looksmlike that its the fault.

I logged on here bcause most Clio problems are really common so I hoped a million posts before highlighted a simple cure - not the case.

Oh and the immobiliser light goes off as normal - all fuses present and correct

Would eing my dad, but mum and dad are seperated, but both on holiday!
