Car Won't Start!

  VaVa
b*****d thing left me stranded in Barmouth (N.Wales) yesterday. Came to start it and got the the 'electrical fault' light on. Car turns over but will not fire.

Immobiliser light goes out. Checked for moisture etc in the relay/fuse box etc and sprayed some WD in there (was VERY damp for a few days). Checked connections on rpm sensor etc, disconnected battery for an hour to reset ECU, all to no avail. Car fired on easy start, so seems that spark is evident but not fuel.

Eventually RAC man called and he couldn't find anything either so I got recovered home (only just in time for the Rugby!!) and it's now sat on my drive.

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions before I get it taken to Renault next week?

Gone are the days when a quick squirt of WD and a wipe inside the dizzy cap could get you motoring again lol.

I'll give that a go pal, cheers.

I'd only been praising how well it had performed on the Welsh roads to my brother in law. Had the drive of my life on the way across there - gave it death and still averaged just under 30mpg. Amazing little machines really but it's the little niggly stuff like this that really lets them down!!

Checked that. Can't get my multimeter to work else I'd check for 12vdc with the ignition on. I *think* the RAC checked for that.

mine did this after i washed it.... limp home mode kicked in though so i left it on driveway with battery diconnected for a few days, started up fine but with emissions light on. took to garage and found the brake switch thingy was sticking....... how or why i dont know what that had to do with the limp home mode part!

Not sure if its the same I had the same problem. Turned out to be a crappy connection to the Alternator. Chopped connector of at the Alternator and stuck a new spade connector on and of she went

Mine did the same this weekend, immob off, electric light wasnt on so i was thinking tdc or something, also in north wales, was shitting myself thinking about a 250mile AA relay home. Left the car for the day as we were canyoning, went back later, disconnected everything under the bonnet, cleaned reconnected, also took the fuel hose off out that back and thank god it started...

Now its running again the f**king radio code in my handbook doesnt work.....

have you used the fault finding dash?

Yup. Came up with t----...... but it did that when it was running ok. lol. I *think* that signified an injector fault but couldn't remember. Can't seem to find the thread with all the codes in either.

I actually told the RAC guy about it and he was like "That's a neat trick" lol.
