Anyone know of a place I can send bits to to be covered in carbon paint as it were? I know some people on here have had things done before I just no idea where they have got them done!

Cheers

There was somebody on here , can't remember who now , who had their front diamond and bullets carbon dipped . Thats what he called it . Don't know the ins and outs of it , but it was some kind of paint and the effect when done was carbon .

I remember alot of people commenting on it , saying it looked good . I had a quik look for the thread but couldn't find it . It was about 2 years ago or thereabouts .I think he had a white 1*2 or replica .

is that the film that they lay on the water, then you dip the part in and the film wraps round the item and sticks to it?

you can get like sticky back plastic with a carbon print, my dads got it on his kit car, i think it looks pants (compared to genuine carbon) but I could get a picture if you want

yeah, vynal the carbon or as laura said, you can buy clothes/sheets of carbon fibre to lay it over the piece you want carbon fibre-ing...

  1.2 Dynamique billabong
there are a number of ways to achieve the look

1) get a mold of the part and get a geniune CF replacement
2) buy thin CF sheet and cover the part
3) use CF effect vinyl
4) use a paint process where you lay down a black base coat, then apply a weave material over the top and spray silver through it

there is also another way, which is to cover the original part in carbon fibre fabric, resin the lot then trim and finish it using laquer and finally polish.... there are benefits and disadvantages to all methods though to be honest..

i actually think the finish of this looks VERY good, my only criticism would be its very uniform, and it doesnt have the depth you get with real carbon fibre...

all the best
