CD changer query

Can someone tell me if you can use the standard changer in a MK2 172 with another head unit as had loads of different stories ref this ... someone said you can get a lead that does it ????

I looked into this too, you can get a lead to make the display and stalk work but you have to upgrade the changer to one compatible with your new head unit

Ye although the changer is an Alpine unit it wont work on anything else..
