CD Player stopped recognising CD's!?

Hi, Im new to ClioSport.net having been on Zsoc.com then e30zone.net previously.. but a change in car warrants a change in forum and i've heard good things about this place so here i am

Onto my problem:
The standard Cd Player in my '05 182 randomly decided to stop recognising CD's half way through a drive and is now rejecting every CD i put in (originals and copies) with a CD ERROR message followed by 2 beeps.

I've got no idea what's caused this and am pretty pissed off as i've only had the car a few months.

Is this a common problem? Has anyone else experienced it and is there an easy fix for it? I've tried the usual turn it on and off - key out of ignition then back in stuff and had no luck

I do have an ICE instal planned for the car, however this is a way off yet and dont want to be without 'tuneage until then.........

As for your problem, well I have heard of this before but I am not entirely sure of the fix.

Providing you have your code I think the first thing I'd be tempted to do is disconnect the unit and see if it 'self resets'.

There is a FAQ guide on here relating to the head units but I'm not sure if the fault is covered.

That sounds like a sensible place to start, i'll pop in to Halfrauds tomorrow and get them to pop the headunit out for me to see if that'll fix it.

I'll try searching for the FAQ guide also... i did have a look before i posted but didn't find much.. will try looking alittle harder

I get this problem also occasionally. Seems to happen for a few days then stops for ages then works while for a time and then reoccurs. Haven't managed to stop it though from unplugging etc.

so unplugging the HU then plugging it back in again appears to cure it? (albeit temporarily)

Havent had any luck plugging and unplugging the HU - and as i've been looking to upgrade my ICE anyway, looks like nows a good time!
