cd-r help required

ive reinstalled windows now i cant record on cd's windows media tells me to connect a burner and restart player, if i drag files onto the cd windows tells me to insert a cd.
any suggestions

mine did that, after months of messing round, i installed deepburner (its the only program would work) and that works fine. strange huh, did my head in too
