CDA fitting help!

  172, Tiguan

Took all the standard airbox out and all pipes etc. Offered up the cda and have found a couple of problems, can anybody who has fitted one to a mk2 172/cup help me with a couple of points:

a) I cant get the standard pipe from the tb ( air intake pipe) to fit on the cda, well it fits, but i cant get it to grip the lip on the cda. do i need to buy the hillpower pipe? I dont want to modify the oe pipe.

b) even if i did use the oe pipe, there doesnt seem to be any room to run the cold air pipe from the front of the cda, as the front of the cda is soo near the front of the car.

Help, or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

cheers guys

the kit for the 172 is a special kit as far as i know, make sure you got the right one.....

they only make about 10 special kits, the rest are the universal box with suggested adapters that might be needed, which they make

im fairly certain its the correct one.

The invoice i have says BMCF1A-CDASP-08

Ive ordered the hillpower elbow, lets hope i have more luck with that.

you dont need the special elbow. My CDA connects directly on the OE elbow, and you have the right SP08 CDA. On the other end, just angle the CDA as near vertical as you can (mines 45 degrees), replace the crap pipe with a proper one and feed it to the bottom of the engine bay.

yea thats definitely a special box, mines a bit longer than that

jus out of interest what mm is the engine side intake of the filter ?

is it 80mm with a 70mm reducer ?

ill check for you later mate, i know the cold air feed side is 85mm, as its been a pain in the arse finding some flexible ducting! And all the stuff i do find has been £40 a metre.

ive fitted the cda with the hill power hose but im still having problems with the cold air feed.

The standard throttle intake hose is not supposed to go over the second lip. The small piece supplied with the filter is to reduce the diameter so you can fit the standerd hose onto it.

I glued the reducing collar to the filter cos it kept coming off. The hill power hose grips better on the reducing collar than the plastic standard hose and you can cut it down to give a bit more room at the front for the cold feed pipe.

Im still having difficulty finding ducting that will fit though.
