Changing a steering wheel

How easy is it to change one?? My cars got an airbag and the steering wheel im getting doesnt come with an airbag but could i use my existing one??

Just bin the airbags its dangerous trying to make one work.

Easy to remove the airbag though just need to stick resisters in the wiring loom else the airbags warning light comes on.

Then i might aswell get an aftermarket wheel hadnt i??

Would i have to pull a fuse out when taking the old wheel off or does the airbag only deploy if in a smash??

lol that would be comedy, airbag deploying while unscrewing it, i was worried that would happen when i chaged my seats, didnt tho

Yep that was the idea wasn't it?

Just unplug the battery to be safe IMO and leave it 10 minutes at mimimum just to be safe airbags arn't nice going off in your face.

Nah i was going to get a focus RS steering wheel so to not spoil the standard look interior but if you think aftermarket wheel is the way forward then so be it... What are your reconmendations??

You need to check it will fit I'm sure the Focus one won't straight off.

O right sorry didn't read it was for aother focus you might be Ok then I've no idea for sure I'd guess they use the same colums so you'll be fine.

Thats will teach me for assumption and not reading.

Whats the standard size of a steering wheel?? Seen some nice aftermarket ones but they do 330mm or 350mm

its your preference,330 will be harder to turn at low speed than 350

From earlier, don't worry about the airbag, use your head. You're brain is there to soak up any impact
Make sure you get the wheels straight when the new steering wheel goes on. The wheels turn when you're grunting and straining to undo the retaining bolt.
