jack up car
Take wheel off
undo the 2 bolts holding the carrier on, pull off carrier, might need a lever to help it off
remove old pads and check with new pads there the same
Push the piston back in the caliper with some big water pump pliers
clean up where the pads will be sitting with a wire brush and apply some copper grease
(really as your only fitting pads you should take off the outer edge of the pads to make sure they sit flat on the discs as the discs may well be lipep)
On new pads put some copper grease on contact area (not disc and pad contact are)
place pads in place and put carrier on and do up bolts
Put wheel on and torque up (90nm i think)
do the same for the other side
dont forget to pump the foot pedal to push the piston back out
best way i find is using a big screwdriver, leave the pads in just the holder is lose, stick screw driver between pad and piston and leaver the piston in easy as 1.2.3
All my point was, is, for not much work you can do it the "proper" way and remove the pad and elliminate the risk of f**king up the pad/piston/caliper etc if you slip. And TBH, wrestling with a screwdriver sounds like more hassle to my female brain :S
do it proper ? is there a proper way to do it ? so far mini-valver said 2 ways, i said 1, everyone has their own way, i find puttin a large screw driver straigh in (wont slip) as theres a gap in the caliper, then lever it, which is easy, and piston goes in, leaving you with enough room to fit pads,
Hate arguing with a female, as you can never win ffs lol
