Changing bulbs help (quick responce ideal!!)

  BMW M3
Hi there,

Really just need a quick answer to how i get the high beam bulb out. I have taken off the rubber protecter and have got the bulb out from the headlamp cluster but cant seem to detach it. Just want to make sure i know what to do before i put any force etc in to it.

Thanks guys

Justin

Well... managed to get it out but just pulled so thats ok now. Thanks.

Have another problem now.... how on earth do you get the sidelights out!!! You need hands the size of a new born baby to get a grip. Seriously Pis*ing me off earlier.

And to top it off..... i have just lost the indicator bulb holder and the silvervision bulb down the drivers side of the engine compartment and i cant for the life of me find it. F*cks sake!!!! Oh... and i bought the wrong bulbs. lol

*runs off crying*..... boooohooooo!!!

Blimey that's some bad run of luck.

I changed my sidelights this afternoon in 10-15mins and my hands aren't that small, you just need to be prepared for a couple of minor scrapes.

Drivers side is the hardest because of the metal line/hose bang in the way. You can reach through and pull both the high beam out first and then the side light out to make it easier to get at and then spin them upwards to reach them. Use the wiring to get a bit of extra pull if you need it but don't pull too hard! You should be able to twist it round and pull the bulb out then.

I also dropped a bulb down past the metal lines, but luckily I managed to spot it after a bit of a hunt and it was just in reach of two nimble fingers.

Thanks for that.... so i need to turn and then pull for the sidelights to come out?

Yeah.. lost the silvervision and holder down the tricky side and i found it but on pulling it back up lost it again... and looks like its gone for good. will look again tomorrow when there is better light but seriously think its gone. Dont like the thought of replacing it and leaving it down there to rattle away though.

Bought the wrong bulbs thanks to www.powerbulbs.co.uk, Was wanting to replace the high beam and they claimed it had one signal "prong" connector whereas they actually have two for the 182. Looks like they have the high beam and low beam mixed up or its different for 172/182's then standard clios.

No that's the high beam. The little plug for the sidelights just pulls out. It's a bit easier if you take the high beam one out beforehand though and move it out of the way a bit.

When I said twist, I meant once you have the holder out, as in twist/pull he holder upwards towards the bonnet to get to the bulb easier.
