Changing Cam-Cover Gasket.

Evening all,

Just hoping for a quick bit of advice from people.

My 182 has a little bit of oil pooled on top of the lower inlet manifold. There is also oil on the cam cover and the underside of the upper inlet manifold.

I'm guessing its the cambox gasket. What other parts am i going to have to replace in the process of changing this? I know i need a gasket for between the two halves of the inlet manifold, anything else? Can't afford to lose the car for more than a few hours, so i want to order the bits and get it done. grrr.

Have heard you can remove the manifold with out replacing the gasket, done this on mine when changing the spark plugs & the gaskets still looked good, so gave it a light wipe over to remove the what looked like light layer of lime scale & there you have it good to go back together, although i'm sure there are those that say this must be changed...

the rocker cover doesn't have a gasket as such, you use sealent on it. You realise it's a cambelt off job to do? So you'll need locking tools for the timing

Just nip the offending bolts up a quarter turn. Just dont snap the cnut in there.

to do the job properly its knocking on for 7hours

loads of them leak, its very common, if its only a wee bit then just leave it

if its leaking through the bolts remove the offending bolt, squirt a bit of silicone in there and refit the bolt

Does anyone know what torque the bolts need to be done up to?
