Changing drivers side CV boot

So my drivers side boot has a tear in it, great. I have a new one to fit. This is not something I have ever done or looked at before, so as usual I willing but a bit scared to try myself! Is this an easy job?

easier to remove the shaft from the car, smack CV off and replace then refit to car

But for a noob DIY'er, is it doable Fred?!
