changing front seats

  Clio 200
got me a nice new set of buckets for the clio got a few questions about the fitting though (already searched found the guide doesnt really answer the questions though)

it true that you have to disconnect the battery before you touch them to stop the airbags going off/

transfer the pretentioner etc over to the new seat?

if i was putting harnesses in would it be possable to still use the drivers airbag?

where would be the best place to mount the harnesses? had this argument with someone before he said on the floor where the rear seatbelt holder is but i thought it had to be at height i.e up at the rear seatbelt on the quarter?

cheers

Hi, just about to fit my buckets too so not based on actual experience but from what I have read on here:

Yes, you do need to disconnect the battery about 30 mins before you start work. I believe a change in voltage from a static shock etc could be enough to set off the airbags although there seem to be plenty on here who take out the seats without disconnecting the battery and get away with it.

I think if you are using seatbelts you need to transfer over the pretensioner and this should mount on the subframe somewhere. I'm using harnesses so won't be a problem for me.

Don't see any reason why you can't use the wheel airbag. Again removing mine so won't be an issue.

There are loads of threads on mounting harnesses. The lower seatbelt mounts are considered by some to be too low and this is backed up by the fitting instructions that came with my harnesses. I have mounted mine to the upper seatbelt mounting point. Otherwise i think a welded harness bar is ideal.

Interested to hear back on how you get on!
