Changing gear knob

  BMW 118d
The gear knob in my girlfriend's clio is a bit tatty so I've bought a new one (from a 172) but how do you get the old one off? Also how do you secure the new one in place?

Cheers

Ive had a new gear knob sitting here for ages, just cant be assed with taking a hacksaw to the old one, lol

Hmmm don't fancy hacksawing it off! Will give it a go with some grips and a good old twist I think. How have you guys kept the new one in place?

either glue it in unless it comes with a fixing grub screw like most aftermarket gearknobs
