Changing speedo surround

  2020 Merc E450 Coupe
I'm trying to swap the grey plastic on my speedo for a coloured version, but don't know how to remove the window/surrounding dash etc and get into my speedo then remove the silver plastic surround. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction to a guide? I can't seem to find any...

Yup dash top off, 10 minute job max. Then the speedo is easy once the dash is off. Have a look in the guides section for the one about changing speakers, becuase that includes how to get the dash off

Thanks for the help. I didn't realise it would be a dash off job. I just found the guide for that so I should be good to go ;)

Tools needed are Torx T10, T20, T30 and hands

Pull apart the door rubbers to reveal the torx:

Then remove the screws:

Then pull off the dash strips and remove the 4 torx screws:

Then take the 3 screws thats in the top vent strip, being careful not to drop them in the vents!

Then undo the steering shroud screws:

Then pull off the top of the steering shroud and undo the 2 screws that hold the clocks in. I didnt get a pic off this. Then pull off the a-pillar strips. these can be a little tough as i wedged my fingers in between these and the actulal metal so i could get a better pull. Pull the both off and just leave them hanging:

Your dash is ready to be pulled off so get a good grip and pull, and dont be scared. I find its best to sit in the center of the car to get the best pull on the dash. Once its off just put it somewhere safe.

Next you need to undo the 2 clips at the rear of the clock. These have a little clip on the back on them securing them into the clock, which needs to be lifted and pulled to the opposite side to undo. Once this is done, then the clocks are free

Turn the clock over and undo the 8 small screws on the back. Once they are all undone then front can be pulled off:

I then took a small screwdriver and prized out the surround, being careful not to snap it. You can also drill out the lugs with a tiny drill bit. Hope that helps
