Changing steering wheel , help please

  ph2 clio 172
My steering wheel is pretty knackered and let's the inside of the car down , was thinking of getting a different possibly smaller wheel but not sure how hard they are to change cos of the airbag etc ? Help will be appreciated

It's a simple task to change, takes a mater of minutes (after you've allowed the battery to spend a while disconnected)
The task there in is getting the dash lights turned off.

Disconnect the battery and leave it for 20+ minutes before you do anything with the steering wheel. This should prevent you getting a face full of airbag if something goes wrong when you unplug it.

After fitting your replacement aftermarket non airbag wheel you will get an airbag fault light on the dash as the car will still be looking for the now missing airbag.

Disconect the battery and leave for 20mins.

There are 2 clips on the back of the wheel. Turn wheel 90 degrees and undo one with a flat ended screwdriver then turn 180 degrees and do the same on other side. (You may have to push hard on the horn to access the 2nd clip)

Once loose you will see 2 airbag connectors. (1 green, 1 yellow iirc?) disconnect them and the airbag will come free. Then use a t50 torx and unscrew the wheel and it will become free. :)
