Changing the Auxilary belt - with pictures and tools!

Car  Trophy, Audi TT,
I changed the axillary belt on my Trophy a few days ago. I thought I would post a few pictures as I had to make a couple of tools to make it easier as I did the job on my own...

to pull back the tensioner I made the tool in the pictures. Not pretty I know but doing it this way meant that I could use the mole grips to hold the tensioner in the off position while I put the belt on. The square bar is 10mm and I used an old lathe tool to make it out of.

The other bolt I struggled with was the lower Idler wheel bolt. For this I ground a hexagon on a cheap 13mm 1/4 drive socket so I could then use a 14mm ratchet spanner on it. it worked a treat!

Its a bit of a fiddly job but not as bad as it first looks! tool 2.webptool 2.5.webpcam belt 1.webptool 2.75.webptool 1.webpengine 1.webp

hope this helps someone!
