Changing tyres - stuck

  MK1 Clio Versailles
Right, I'm totally bemused. I got the jack up yesterday ready to change my alloys and when it came to trying to undo the wheel nuts, they won't budge what so ever.

I've tried with all my force with the wheelbrace and nothing, not even on the back tyres which haven't been replaced recently and are a different style.

So what on earth can I try (it's a good job I don't need to change a tyre in an emergancy!)?

they're 'kin useless - made of butter - too much force and hexagon shape disappears!

2 choices:

1) go to friendly tyre fitter - most will change a wheel in 2 mins if ask nicely and not charge - say your jacks broke and yer girlfriend needs the car!

2) place brace so it's in a good position to push down with foot - 10 o'clock or 2 o'clock on clock face and prop other end on bricks or wood so that supported both ends!

Push hard down with foot - a stamp will round off inside thread and fu*k brace!

just re-read.

If you're doing a whole set will take ages!

Go to a fitter - a tenner is better than fuc*ed jack, nuckles and even bodywork if you stamp on brace and it flies off!

^ ^ I damaged an alloy getting mad with one!

Ditch the poxy little wheel brace and get yourself a torque wrench and keep it in the boot or an impact wrench . Or as said above , local tyre fitter .

For a start your not changing your tyres mate that would be alot harder.Dont jack it up before the nuts are loose. Also use a different wheel brace so you can stand on it.
