Changing V6 interior

  Mk2 Clio V6 / 996 C4S

Have any V6 owners replaced the standard seats with bucket seats, fixed back or otherwise?

With the standard Clio driving position being a bit lofty, and the seats not being ideal for regular track use or Touring work Ive been considering it for a while.

I seem to remember seeing somebodys Mk1 with buckets:)

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

These fit easily on Clio bases and are a little lower than standard.

However!!! they are now out and the Corbeau revolutions are in which are really, really low on bespoke frames (pic in a couple of weeks)

The Sparcos tilted forwards which was nice but not the end of the world

I put Corbeau Revolutions in my 5 GT Turbo they were an absolute pig to fit although it may be different for the Clio. They were good seats with regard to holding you in place but a word of warning - they were very uncomfortable if you are driving for anything over an hour. It may have been because i had stiffer suspension on my 5 but those seats used to give me (and any passenger) chronic backache! They did look very cool but i would not fit them to a road car again that was going to be used often.

Simo I have Cobra Imola 2 in my v6, they are mounted on Reverie carbon fibre subframes (fixed) which are bolted directly to the floor having removed a section of the cross bracing. Total height drop with this arrangement is something in the order of 10 to 12" and is very significant - you would need to have the steering bracket altered to allow it to move lower.

You cannot see the bonnet (any of it) but once you get used to the position it feels very natural and has the added benefit of dropping the 2nd heaviest thing in the car closer to the ground.

Christ man. Is that fully stripped out as well:cool:

That must sound amazing.

Thanks for the advise guys. Id be looking for something with a reasonable amount of comfort. Probably some Recaros similar to the ones Audi fit in the RS6.

Driving to Le-mans last year got a bit uncomfortable once Id covered a good few hundred miles. The car is really good at doing long distance driving, it needs some more specilist seating.:D

I find the RenaultSport ones, even with Lumber support right out, still dont give enough support, on cross continent driving. Hence why Ferrari and Porsche of buckets I suppose.
