Cheap head units

Im looking to buy a cd head unit for my mk1 1.2, but i dont want to spend any more the £150, ive been looking at sony xplods but ive been told that theyre crap. is this true and do you lot have any recomendations?

any Kenwood would be your best bet. I had an Xplod, I didnt have enough control over the sound (bass, mid, treble). Dont think it even had a fader!
