No, my dad does salvage and breaks lotus's, its frustrating when selling a car for it to be slagged off by people that know nothing about the car.

Im not smking anything, my dad sells clams for about £600 i didn't think Lotus would charge 10x that for a chunk of fibreglass, you can get it in carbon fibre for less than that.

I obviously know nothing about the car, having owned one. Old one off, new one, painted and fitted to the back is around £10k depending on what you do to the rest of the car as really you're going to clout something underneath usually. Front slightly less.

Clownshoe.

Maybe prices differ significantly between Exiges and Elises then, but that's the quote I had from Christopher Neil's when they said not to bend it... I've never claimed to be a 'specialist', I said from the outset that's what I'd been told by a dealer.

Sarcastic prick.

Theres nothing much different to an exige and elise clam, just the style of the bottom, you can put en exige clam on an elise, might be a bit more £3k at the most, stealer obviously knows jack s**t. Im not trying to be an asshole, it just comes out sometimes i don't really mean to offend you, sorry if i came across as a bit of a dick.

Im not taking back handers from anyone, its just frustrating when selling a car when know it alls on a forum **** it off knowing nothing and put off potential buyers. Btw its not anything to do with me so ill make a swift exit :approve:

Yes they can. My dad's vectra was flood damaged and is back on the road!

Was this written off by the insurance company though? If it's flood damaged and claimed it's written off CatB/A, (parts or crusher) however if you don't claim then it's never actually recorded.

You can have a cat c/d flooded car too. You can put cat b back on the road too, so it doesn't proove much mushroom.

From the internets said:
Category A - the entire vehicle must be crushed.

Category B - the vehicle may be broken for parts but it must never be returned to the road.

Category C - possible structural damage but the vehicle is repairable. The cost of the damage would have been more than the book value of the car if that repairs were carried out at garage prices and official manufacturers parts.

Category D - most likely to be nonstructural damage and should be relatively easily repairable. In this case the vehicle may have been economical to repair but for other reasons it was written off. For example where the insurer have to provide a courtesy car the time taken to repair the vehicle would mean that the courtesy car cost together with the repair cost would be excessive. In a category D scenario it is more likely that the insurer did not wish to repair.

LR55ZCT - do a hpi check and see for yourself.

It depends what company you buy it off...

Not going anywhere near your dodgy dealings then, as the DVLA require a notification of destruction for Cat A and B, however Bs you can remove bits from.

Its not that dodgy, theres a certain salvage company that won't stop you having it vic checked or taxed etc. One you have the log book theres nothing they can do. Its frowned upon but not illegal ;) It has to have a vic check etc still.

Lols at frowned upon.

I'm sure the insurance company would be thrilled to bits to find cat b's back on the road.

You make roffle!

Dodgier and dogier everytime you post.

Yep really dodgy seen as vosa (who make the categorys) actually did the vic check. Theres nothing to stop you doing it, apart from the company you buy it off. If there not arsed you can do it, simple, its not illegal.

I don't see how im dodgy, im not even a trader nor do i do really do salvage. Its a bit like speeding, the limit is 30 but theres nothing stopping you go over it, doesn't make you dodgy or a bad person because you've done it, putting a cat b back on the road isn't even illegal like speeding is, so guess were all a bit dodgy.

It would appear I stand corrected.

From the horses mouth....

only if its foul water or salt water, otherwise usually cat C depending on the level. If its above the seats its generally C. Looks to me like it will probs need a UCH etc etc thats why he isn't finishing it. $$$$$$$$$
