i have a £10 one from JTF and it lifts the car up and its a lot quicker and easier to use than the one from the boot so unless you need a really big strong one then i dont see whats wrong with a cheap one. if your not going to use it all the time
I bought Axle stands and a trolley jack from Halfords for £19.99 and they are superb. Use them nearly everyday and tbh, for the price you cannot go wrong.
most important thing with a trolley jack IMO is the size of the saddle. A small saddle will cause more damage when lifting as the weight wont be spread enough.

Always use a piece of timber on top of the saddle when ever lifting the car, as the renault sills are made of chocolate. They even bend using the renault supplied jacks.
So i have found the timber great to solve this problem, and all my sills are fine.
i have one from machine mart, £15 i think..........even though its pretty much useless until the cars at a height it will go under...........i have to go onto some wood, then use the renault jack, then trolley jack
I find the Halfords 1.5 tonne Jack dosent go high enough when rasing for use with axle stands. Only goes as far as hole number one on the stands and is a tight squeeze if your under the car for any length of time.
Also dosent go low enough if your running Apex springs (on the front) I have to use the cars OE jack to raise then incert the Halfords one. Pain in da bum
