Cheapest dephaser pulley

By your thinking, If it's bad with VVT, it's not going to idle at all if you're fixing it on the high profile, is it?

oh really I had utterly no idea......... OF course its for the VVT, but frankly with it running the Idle is shocking anyway so it cnat be much worse on fixed timing surely?

If you knew it was then surely you'd realise you would have to change the cams to non vvt etc or the car would have no power/torque or be near to un useable to idle properly

iirc the 'VVT' switches at something pitifully low under 2Krpm..... so the altered overlap and timing (the cam dosent get any 'bigger' its not a honda) cant make driveability that bad.

I've run engines with bonkers cams that idle like a dream.

Yeah true 1600rpm, either way I'd reckon non vvt cams . Problems with oilways in the originals and things like that.

It'd be brilliant if you could though with standard or the cat 421s and the likes, save everyone a fortune!

feck paying what catcams want for an adjustable pulley... I'd look at using an exhaust one with the correct locating pins/slots.

I'm sure blocking the oilway cant be too hard...

Fred/Danny/anyone whos had them apart care to add ;)

off the top of my head you might struggle blocking the oil feed/return holes machined in the end of the inlet cam

I guess the catcams pulley(s) are for their own cams and as such dont have the oilways to ***** about with.
Does it matter if you block the feed/returns? does it starve elsewhere of oil?
and I guess nearly as importantly, how much worse is Idle on the fixed timing with std cams.

Non VVT Pulleys go with Non VVT cams (i.e some catcam variants), wouldnt bother trying to block the holes the cams if you are staying with standard profile, seems like wasted effort.

It'd save on having to fork out for a dephaser if the holes were blocked easily enough

^^^How did you get it so cheap?

Trade.

How to get it all depends on your local garage, I manage to blag it most places I go but I could not at my local Renault dealer. Fortunately, I know a lot of people in a load of different motorfactors and parts departments over here, so a quick ring around and it wasn't long before I found someone who knew the guys over at Renault quite well ;)
