Yes they are illegal, most insurance company's wont accept them either and they are awful. Wait and get a half decent exhaust if you really want it louder.

I was told they were by a couple different garages.. And the insurance company, when I rang my insurance to declare my exhaust he said - is it a cherry bomb? I said no.
He said that's lucky because they are illegal

That's the only reason I said it is illegal

Insurance companies are RARELY right tbh. It's a bit of a grey spot in the law tbh. Like when police say an exhaust is too loud, when in reality your exhaust isn't as loud as a Zonda now is it?

no exhaust as far as i am aware are illegal. its purely down to how loud your car is with it fitted

but tbh, cherry bombs arent that loud anyway. heard plenty of louder exhausts on normal cars

I quite like them on some cars.

For example, Polo GT 1.3, ZZR 600 Bike carbs, 4-2-1 manifold, straight through exhaust to a cherrybomb.

Although not actually illegal, you can break the law with them, as in making too much noise past 11pm. Easily land yourself a section 59 warning.
