Child safe internet browsing

What's the best (free) way to prevent children from accessing p**n on a Windows 8 laptop.

Browser is IE and Chrome.

You can create user profiles for children in windows 8 and turn on family safe, IE has built in controls, click the cog icon at the top-right corner>internet Options>content tab, and then enable in the content advisor section. Dont think chrome has that option. Or you can use something like OpenDNS which offers free filtering options for parents.

OpenDNS as stated is a good option. Enable it so any device through your router gets filtered.
