Cigirette soket issues!

Just got my new garmin nuvi 40 sat nav in today went to try it out and there is no power coming from the socket. The sockets fine as the lighter itself works but for some reason that is all that works! im sure its something to do with the current going into the socket any ideas on how to fix or where to get an adapter?

i dont think its the fuses because the lighter itself works fine its just the charger cabels that dont work

So the charger cable is the problem then

no because the charger cable works fine in the mitsibushi l200 just not the clio

Try folding some tin foil and laying it into the bottom of the socket. I found that the pin on my charger wasn't quite long enough to make the connection to the bottom of the socket. The foil sorted it.

I've also found that the clio sockets arn't the best at fitting and sometimes giving it a wiggle or the plug twisted in a certain position makes contact. My last clio was bad for this but my current one is alright most of the time.

ill give the tin foil idea a go thanks i tried wiggling but nothing came of it might just see if i can get one of a scrap car cause i found this one is full of fag ash

tin foil never worked think ill just try it on a scrapped clio

I just replaced my socket with an ebay one for about £9
they get corroded so you don't get a good connection. Swap if for a new one and problem solved

You do realise the end of the charger plugs unscrews to extend for longer sockets?

Sand it down / get some contact cleaner in there. Should be fine then!

i sorted it by taking one out of a scraped clio gess the socket contacts where just bad incase any one has the same problem
