cleaning cone filters

What do you guys use? I know theres propr cleaning kits, but I wondered whether maybe a bit of fairy in some warm water would do the job?


And hiow about lubricating them? anything I can use for that job ?

you need the cleaning kit unless someone comes up with an alternative because; using fairy liquid is all well and good for cleaning but you remove the oil film that actually filters the air, after cleaning you need to replace this oil film otherwise the air is not getting filtered properly.

noone has any ideas on what you can replace the lubraucant with? Motorcycle chain oil (non fling stuff) seems pretty similar consinstency

i done mine last week..i used warm water with loads of fairy liquid..left it to dry the used a light spraying of wd40...seems ok

wd40 seems a reasonable suggestion. anyone else have any ideas?

Just use filter oil!

On some cars filter oil clogs MAF sensors though...

I'd buy a decent DRY filter.
