Cleaning my carp properly

hi,
After recently getting a new car replacing the old one which i never bothered to take proper care of.
i don't know much about cleaning my car properly, so could anyone recommend which products would be good to clean and polish the car.
I dont have a huge budget and i dont really want to but like 10 different products but i would like to be cleaning it properly and to make it actually look good.
My starting point is pretty much nothing so all help would be muchly appreciated.

Have a quick search in this section or read a few of the stickies, Understanding the stages and processes is key before you even get started.

Auto Finesse do a sample kit which is quite good, Can you see yourself getting more and more into car cleaning?

It can get very expensive and the list of things becomes never ending

yeah i could imagine when i know what im doing and get to grips with it all ill get into it. just don't want to start spending ridiculous money now and not really know what im doing.
Just unsure how many different things i need to get first.
