Clicking Noise

I have a 2002 phase 2 1*2 and it has recently developed an intermittent clicking noise.

The noise is every now and again when I start the car. No idea what it is but it sounds as though it is coming from behind the stereo/climate control unit, possibly from the driver's side. Anybody any ideas?

Forgot to add.

When the noise does start it lasts for about 3-4 seconds and then goes off.
