Clio 1.2 16v Probs :-(





Hey all, I have a few probs..wonder if any 1 can help?

02 Clio 1.2 16v:

Sometimes cuts out and the red STOP light on the dash comes on, anything I can do about this?



There is a noise on the engine (I think) which sounds like I have a nail in my tyre, like a tap..tap..tap..tap..tap noise. When I press the clutch down the noise stops?

Any input is welcome,

Id take it bck to Renault and try more than one dealership it may need new software updates.

JAY172 mentioned that the 1.2 problems are normally fixed by new or a reload of the software.

The tapping noise though no idea the engine does has tapets which can be hear but if it goes away with the clutch down then it must be somethign else.

Keep trying different dealers you can. As your warenties valid at all of them.

got my 1.2 back from renault yesterday after getting a couple of problems "sorted"... like Jay172 told me, all that was done was software and nothing else to sort the running issues. still not 100% right but its definitly better than it was and i cant go without my car any longer so itll do for now.
 


Hi, thanks for the replies.

I had my car in renault a few weeks ago for the same problems, they just updated the ECU software and said it was my cam kit rattling. They fitted a new cam kit and NOTHING was fixed. What a fooking pile of w*ank clios really are.

lol, tell me about it. my top end sounds rattly n all... so i turn the music up and sing louder! ordered my exhaust today as well to try and drown it out a bit more! :D

there is a specfic run in procedure to be carried out after reprogramming to reset engine parameters.if this isnt done properley it might take a while before the full benefit of the new software can be felt.give it some time and see how it goes.

if the noise seems to be related to clutch position then i would defo take it back to renault.

hmmmmmm welcome to the world of the 1.2 16v tick tick! annoying as hell, even with a K-tec exhaust! As mentioned, a good head unit and sub is the best bet lol!!!! I aint had any problems (touch wood) wi mine for stalling, but a lot of people have, and again, like mentioned, its a software issue.

Hope this helps..........the tick tick really does my head in, my next car, A Skoda! (honeslty lol)

ive got a few probs with mine as well....that noise that you say you hear, well i think ive got the same prob, its like a flicking noise when i begin to put my foot on the accelerator. The other thing is when im driving the car there is like a dull whistling sound???

hey all, I looked at my oil cap today and there was a wee bit of yellow gunk on there, is this serious? What does it mean?

I had a look at my mothers ford Ka and that had the same gunk on too!

the run in procedure should be carried out by the technician immediatly after reprogramming.anyway see how it goes.

a very slight amount just on your filler cap could be caused by condensation.keep a check on the oil and coolant levels.
 


the revs still oscillate up and down quickly immediately after you start it from cold, and if you increase the revs a bit then it just oscillates at the higher revs! lol

when i got the car back the trip counter had been reset and had 1.2 miles on it. oh well, itll do for now.
