Clio 1.2 shuddering

My clio has started shuddering all of a sudden. Was driving along, changed down and this shuddering started when i put the power on. It has very little power and when idling its almost stalling. Not sure what this is, two of my friends are apprentice mechanics but their not so good and couldnt say exactly what it is. I thought it may have been the timing belt has torn. It has done 63000 miles, v reg.

sounds like it could be misfiring from what you said. Try taking each HT lead off one at a time, if you take one off and it makes no difference to how the engine runs then you will know thats the cylinder thats misfiring.
