Clio 1.2 starting problem

So I've just put the car back together after changing the clutch and I've got this.



I've checked the earth from the gearbox which would be the obvious one but last time this happened it just magically went after 5 mins of trying. This time it's not.

What other things can I check?

Last time it fired up after speaking to me on the phone..

I might be the Clio whisperer.. who knows.

Have you got a spare key? Looks like the immobiliser isn't turning off. IIRC the red light should go out.

Yeah I'm just trying the key now. Solid red light means it has authorised the key though and there is a problem elsewhere

Try syncing the key again:

"The tip to sync the immobiliser again was to have the key in the ignition and turned all the way on, hold down the internal locking button until it beeps (5-15 seconds), take the key out, lock and unlock the car using the button on the key, put the key back in and start the car!"

Already done that to no avail.

For anyone that is interested it was the earth on the starter motor.

where is the earth on the starter motor? ..

On the back of it. Then if I'm not mistaken it earths to the gearbox through the bolts but the initial earth wire goes on the back of it which is what was dodgy
