Clio 16V REV LIMIT

I have had my Clio 16V about 4 months. Phase 1 K Plate

I havent found the Rev limit yet.

It will show 8,000RPM on the clock. But when I had my clifford fitted and Intellistart fitted it was hooked up to a laptop and the REV Counter was about 280RPM out. So even if showing 8,000RPM would be 7,720RPM and it still hadnt hit.

Probably am being a pussy. Do they all have limiters?? Just dont want to damage anything. Would having it chipped raise the limit and what to???

Well redline is 7 grand and the limiter should be at around 7200 i think, I wouldnt make a habbit of going to 8 grand, youll bust a conrod or a rod bolt, very messy.

I dont make a habit I can assure you. However I thought there would be one hence why it went that high.

So do they have one???

Yep, the ECU limiter should kick in around 7200.

Renault documentation says: factory rev limit: 7000...

only F7P 720 - the early ones without cat are supposed to have 7200 limit.

Unless it;s been chipped, then you can set the limiter to practically anything

Hmm is all I can say. Just cant rev it to much then.

Dont want to make it break down anymore than it all ready does

if its been chipped they may have took the rev limiter away.. mine now limits at 7800

By fitting a chip to your car, it can raise the rev limit by pretty much what you want. the standard superchip will take the limit to 7500 rpm but there are companies that will make you chips for the likes of hill climbing that will raise it even more. no chance your ecu could have been removed or your car wouldnt run. that controlls the whole ignition system and timing of your injectors, fuel pump etc.

IS there any way to tell if the car has been chipped at all. Would there be any printing on the ECU or chip if it has been modded???

i think you could take it to Renault for a test on the X25? machine, i think it just comes back with an error message if chipped.
