Clio 172 Phase 1 Immobiliser Issue

Hi all,

I’m brand new to the Clio Sport forum, recently acquired a Clio 172 Phase 1.

It has an erratic ongoing issue of irresponsive starting. I’m told this could be an immobiliser issue or linked to faulty wiring.

Has anyone had experience with this issue?
Can anyone recommend a specialist that could service and fix this very specific problem?

Welcome to the forum

Does it sometimes start and sometimes not start?

Do you have a second key that you could try / have tried?

How old is the battery?

Hi, thanks for your quick response.

• yes, it starts sometimes
• brand new battery
• new key set made in an attempt to fix the issue
(4 years ago)

This solution worked temporarily.
The vehicle has been SORN for a few years.
Just getting it back on the road.

I’ve read other threads that mention potential immobiliser issues or possibly wire corrosion.
The solution has evaded two mechanics so far.

A specialist would be most welcome!

When it doesn't start:

- can you hear the fuel pump priming?
- does the engine turn over or does it do nothing at all?
- what does the immobiliser light do? (solid/flashing/off?)
- what are the various dashboard (warning) lights doing?

If it's the immobiliser, you can have it deleted by EFI.
