Clio 182 Price

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R

Wow, my second post :)

Anyhoo, just got off the phone with a guy from Motor Provider and he will sell me a brand spanking 182 for £11695 which I thought was pretty impressive. If I wanted the Cup spoiler pack and Suspension pack it would cost an extra £?? (whatever that costs - I think about £350 in total). Not too bad considering Renault are charging £14.5k on the road. This comes with 3 years warranty and all the trimmings of a normal on the road deal.

Delivery would be in 6 - 8 weeks which isnt too bad, gives me time to sort out the loan and sell my Williams 3.

What he did say however, was that Insurance companies strongly disklike the Cup addition packs that can come with the 182, with some even voiding policies or upping the premium. More than 150 people who have ordered the 182 with the packs have been rebuffed by Insrance companies because of this. Is it worth even telling the insurance company (ie Tesco.com) that the car has this optional extra added, as they do explain that the car cant be modified. Does this come into effect if the car is actually built like this by Renault for the public if they choose the package??

Yeah thats what I thought. But surely the guy wanting to sell me the car (as he does every day with different people) would want to sell it with the extras for that bit more cash. I hope youre right bud, as my insurance is fairly steep as it is :) Cheers.

Nobody will its NOT a modifcation.

Sounds like he is making up stories to try and stop you from ordering the cup packs.

Well it is a modification to the suspension and handling, thus making the car handle differently to its suspension pack-less brother. lol. I see your logic though, and couldnt fathem out how it would affect my insurance. As I said though, bit odd that the salesman said this, with him trying to sell the car et al. Anyway, do you guys reckon £11695 is a good deal or could I get cheaper?

If the car comes from the factory with those options is it modified?

if you ordered sat nav would that be a modification? No. so your cool.

11,695 + 150 + 200 + 300 = £12,345 (less if its non metalic)

Great price but its not a uk car. if your not fussed about that then go for it.

LOL, the only reason he is spouting that sh*te, is becasue they wont be able to specify specification.

Tom,

This Motor Provider - http://www.motorprovider.co.ukhttp://www.motorprovider.co.uk is obviously aquiring the 182 from wherever it is and selling it on to the public for cheaper (less tax etc), forgive my lack of knowledge on the subject but is this all above board and a worthwhile thing to do? Are there negative points to this scenario and will I have to tell my insurance company that its an import or just a normal English Clio 182? There must be drawbacks for the price.

Thanks again.

Go to a broker instead and get a UK car. I dont see the point of imprts when you have the brokers doing the same sort of prices now. Its obvious the importers are going to have trouble with this CUP options thing. Perhaps thats one of the reasons Renault offered it?

why are importers going to have trouble with this CUP thing???? what diff will it make to importers, have i missed something?
