Clio 3 intermittent start problem

Hey guys,

Started having intermittent starting problems with my Clio. There's no real pattern that I can see so far, starts sometimes when hots, starts sometimes when cold, sometimes even starts after waiting 30 minutes and trying again.

The engine turns but just doesn't catch.

I took out the tdc sensor on the weekend which had oil around it, cleaned it up and popped it back in but still same issue.

I also noticed the engine oil smells like petrol.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, please help!
I haven't taken it in to Renault as there is a R 875 diagnostic charge :grin:
When the car starts, it runs perfectly so I'm guessing the problem can't be to do with sparks, coils, fuel pump or filter?
When it refuses to start, a push start does get it starting; does that rule anything out? I'm thinking either key, TDC sensor or starter?

Changed the TDC sensor! The Clio is back on the road!
