Clio and Saxo share the same chassis??

Ok, so I had to drop my mate off to pick up his car from a local mechanic. We all got chatting and he asked what car i had so i told him a clio 172. He then starts saying how crap they are compared to a ford st1 (my mates car) might I add his car has had more problems than my French car, then he said the clio and the saxo have the same chassis??? is this true?

Sounds like he's getting confused with the 106 and Saxo, which along with the chassis shared quite a lot of parts also iirc.

I thought he was mixing the Clio with the 106 but i was defending the clio on my own against that t**t plus his mate plus my mate all saying clio's are s**t, and i bet they are only saying that given the French car history isn't great. Modern renault's are just as reliable as any other car today probably more so than some German cars in fact.
