Does anyone know the size of the bumper screws? I want to replace them with stainless but don't know the sizes!

5 x 25 t20 I think they are, for anyone who finds this useful! With a 15.5mm washer.

You honestly don't need them on a Mk2. I never ran them on mine and I know the likes of @Budgie if he's still around on here never did either.
I don't run the bolts in the brackets for the bumper but I run all the bolts that hold in the arch liners to the bumper.

The ones from ebay just rust so quickly so I wanted some stainless ones to replace them.

I never ran a single bolt on my front bumper. I just had those press studs in the top of the grill.
But then you have holes in the bumper edge which looks messy and archliners free to move slightly. They'd still be held in with fir clips however

Bump(er) sorry!

How do you get the 10mm bolt off under the wheel arch - not the arch liner Torx ones If they are rusted on?

I needed the bumper off the other day but gave up trying to get one side off it was that badly corroded/rusted.

Could I have cut them off then replaced them with stainless steel ones? judging by the above comments they are not needed right??

I did manage to do what I wanted to do with the bumper on in the end but was a PITA.

Just tug the bumper, hard. The brackets on the bumper dont have rounded holes they're just 'forks' if that makes sense.

You'll be able to get better access to remove the bolts when you remove the bumper.

Yeah makes sense now that, I managed to unbolt one side and thought balls I've made a right mess of that only to realise it's a 'fork' in the plastic ans supposed to be like that doh!

On a sort of related note, I couldn't get the slam panel off either! I couldn't get access to the 2 lower bolts because of the Rad being in the way, no way could a spanner/socket fit in the gap due to the Rad.

You only need to loosen the 2 for the slam panel mate. The panel is slotted, so once it's loose it just lifts up. A ring or ratchet spanner will do it.

I must have missed something because I undid the top 2 bolts - near the bonnet catch and I couldn't move it!

Like I said before I managed to do the job with the bumper and slam panel still on but life would have been much easier with them off!

I just wanted to know the reasons why I couldn't remove them, still bugs me now!!

The 2 bolts near the catch? You don't touch them to remove the slam panel. It's the 2 on either end towards the headlights and then loosen the 2 lower down behind the crash bar and lift up.

Those no12 screws I linked to above are incorrect. I wrote 5x25MM but then those linked are 5.5mm, they do not fit.

I believe what you actually want are no10 screws that are 4.8mm - i'll get the OEM ones on the verniers tomorrow at work
