clio buying

  TDI tyre shreader

Alright guys, im thinking about buying a clio, prob know this if u have seen my other threads, am thinking aout either a 172 or a 1.6 16 dynamic, looking more like a 1.6 at the min due to insurance reasons which is a bit of a bummer!! Soooo was woundering what the 1.6 is like, i know its going to be slower than a 172 but what is the 0-60 and does anyone own one, recomend one, hate it, etc, etc, oh and dont really care about how tune-able it is as it seems a little pointless when the 172 is faster, in the first place

cheers, Iain

ive got 1 and the 0-60 is 9.6 by the books

they r alright as standard but i find they seem quite breathless and they enjoy to be revved (which is hard when ur suposed to be running it in)

but yes quite fast and ive quite enjoyed owning 1 so far (only had it a month and a week or 2

1.6 has 110hp

172 has 166.6hp so theres a noticable performance difference.

I would say if you have the money get the 172 more kit and price shouldnt be that much more and the insurance group is 16 so only 6 groups higher than the 1.6.

I had 1.4 16V courtesy a while back and although it was faster then my dci (similar in power to the 1.2 16V) I wouldnt have paid the extra costs for what is a half way house after all the dci and 1.2 have cheaper running costs.

but that 6 groups higher was the difference between £1500 which is what i pay for my 1.6 and £2500 for the 172

i just couldnt justify spending £2500 on insurance so i went for the 1.6 knowing it will come down by like £200 next year hopefully

i had to draw the line somewhere
