clio cam

  Mk2 Golf GTI 16v
looking to bring the performance of my 99 clioII 1.4 8v up a bit.

just wondered if the cam from the 1.6 would fit onto it or make any good difference?

or any other good performance mods failing that :D

cheers!!

The cam wouldn't make any extra power you need true aftermarket ones.
Best modification value wise is to strip it and coilover it. OR get a 172 engine grarbox suspension brakes etc for £1.5k + vat from j3ned on here.

dont think the insurance would like the whole idea of a 172 conversion lol ;)

as for coilovers, just got new apex springs so wont be changin for a while!

its a lot harder for them to spot something like a change of cam.

do ye know any good sites/places for a performance cam for my car then? I haven't managed to find any.

Pm BenR about a cam, also proting and polishing will help you aout, but for casm and porting and polishing you are looking at around £800, you have to ask yourself, is it realy worth it on a 1.4?

You can get surprising power out of the 1.4, but it isnt by any means 'cheap'.

But i offer gasflowed cylinder heads, manifolds, throttle body, cams, remap etc etc.

We cna knock you up to 120-130bhp easily enough.

Yup, i have a range of cams available for most renaults.

One of my new design cams pushed 181lbs.ft at 4500rpm on a 172 about 2 weeks ago, only 2 sets running around in the country at the moment. Are prooving to work extreemly well.

A chnage of cam to get the full gains will require a remap to up the fueling and this is easy to spot from insurers points of view even these supposed hidden ones arn't hidden insurers are wise to this way of geting hidden extra hp etc and they check these now as if they don't have to pay out for a calim as your cars modified then they will do its a cutthroat industry anything to save some money.
If you cannot afford the premium I just won't do it you can go faster in a car just by learning to drive better and take better lines etc plus insurance companies cannot refuse claim jsut because your better at controlling a car.

so no one does cams then? is that correct that apart from BenR has done do those 2
cars that no one has them.?
if so benr would it be possible to see a power graph of one please? and how much to have one fitted on a 172cup and do you use standard timing tool/marks?
would be very grateful for your help.

come to the conclusion n/a tuning's just too dear just now, and uneconomical on a 1.4.

gonnae get a honda when ahm older and the insurance goes down anyway :p

No Ben can do you a cam.

172 will be differnt costs to a 1.4 rt as its a twin cam, RT is a single cam.

Cams can be timed to std timeing, or using vernire pullies it can be timed in to a decent timing.

Doubt he has a power graph of an RT, can't sayi know of anyone who has cammed a 1.4 rt

Cams for the F4R are ground to specific timing lications relative to the cam alignment tools used as you cannot dial in a F4R cam in the traditional manner due to the cam bearings being part of the cam cover.....which is a pain, so you just have to grind them perfect straight off.

PM me for price please.

I will get graphs up in a while, got to have dinner. :D
