well peeps.. I metioned in the thread I'd got in touch with Gordon Mee (yorkshire Manager) From his understanding of the actual incident, Renualt Halifax have charged me for a job they did, but they have charged me nearly twice as much for the "chipping", He's sent me out a letter confirming they have "re-mapped" the chip and not "replaced" it however, he has brought forward an investigation into the matter of why I was charged so much for the job itself. I was charged £450 for the job when I should have been charged £250 for it, also he has pointed out and I got this confirmed at Hudderfield Renault. So he's told me he's happy that they completed the job they were asked, but hes not impressed they've charged so much. So he's asked Renault at Huddersfield to check the car out to see what exactly they've done to mine and report back to him. The car is booked in for next thursday at Huddersfield Renault. So hopefully I'll find out exactly wot they've done to my nice little brum brum! lol....

But Mr G Mee is sending me the £450 back because of Halifax overcharging me..
So I'm just waiting on the postman now

It'll probably go on the first service... I've nearly done 11K in it already... get it through that coz I was wondering 2 weeks ago how it was gonna be paid..

Now I know... might just go buy an inclosed air induction too.. I like the sound of the 57i I've got now, but its lagging the car and its no good at all when its warm...

Oh yeah.. and a drink for NEB too!

Mate Renault dealers do not do re-maps!!!! I suggest you take it to an independant specialist that can read the ecu....I highly doubt that a Renault dealer has cracked and remapped the ecu tbh. Try contacting GDI or BB Tuning.

It looks to me as if they have pulled a scam and are covering it up.

You should try speaking to Jeremy Townsend also.

you should get it on a rolling road and get a bhp print out and see iff they are talking bolocks or give it a run agaist a standed 182 to see if there is a diffrence

As Gary said... your contact is covering up the reality: Renault WILL NOT remap an ECU to megane specs!! lol

There's no "he's told me he's happy that they completed the job they were asked"... this is b****cks mate. I can nearly 100% gaurantee that your ECU hasnt been re-mapped.

Keep the pressure on them, even though you have your money back im certain they didnt carry out any re-mapping... so this just makes them common thieves!

If you go stick the RS Megan maps on the ECU if they even made the engine start (I don't think so) then you would get less power since the whole mapping is completly different. Also the Megan has turbo boost so the engine won't make 225hp as the engine won't up the fueling as it won't see the boost even if you did get it to run. The Megan also doesn't run the same cam setup so that another problem.
The Megan has a turbo to push the output to 225hp to get that sort of numbers from a 172/182 you need to spend thousands and thousands you need to go to individual throttle bodies, exhaust work, cams and probably head work as well.
I know some dealership sell superchip maps on the cars for that sort of price so maybe thats what your cars but its only a 5hp at absolute best no more.
If it is superchipped the dealers cannot tell they can overwrite the maps though so you'll be back to standard mapping. However that doesn't mean insurance companies cannot tell its been mapped though.
I'm sorry to sound negative hopefully you can get to the bottom of this. The dealer missold you this and you didn't know any more so your just telling us what they sold you.
The only other thing I can thin is it might be a LAD conversion but they ask more like £1.4k for there supposed "200hp+" kit which isn't very higly regarderd on here and there other tunning work isn't well regarded on other forums. LAD have got together with some dealers to offer this as part of a new car idea.
The Megan turbo RS is single turbo but its twin scroll ie its a funny adjustable vane type twin turbo Megan RS would be to much to hope for from Renault.

Your comments are fine... I've already had most of them.. my invoice says chip upgrade and they even told me they changed it when I went in to collect the car from new.. but the yorkshire managers on the case, the hudds branch mentioned the LAD I think... but the chip remap they were on about gives about 193Bhp ... but I think they change part of the exhaust and change the air filter too.. Or so I was told.. (could be wrong on that)

Halifax Renault insisted it was a "chip" change only .... It doesnt matter really coz its booked for next week, and I'll find out from them if anythings been changed or altered, but I aint takin it back to halifax ever.. wouldnt mind but I wrote a nice review for them on here too,
the other problem is I dont know anyone personally round I live with a 182... as far as I know, I'm the only one with a 182 in Hebden bridge and I havent seen another one yet in Halifax.... plenty of 172's though so racing another at the mo is a bit hard ... I'll see the opinion of the branch at hudds first to see if theres a change, they know a company in Dewsbury that do chip performance..

turbochargers I think or sommat like that, they'll probably send the car there to test... we'll see what happens, but I'll keep an update as soon as I know on here

Also the megane to run the turbo will also likely be running a lower compression ratio. Other wise i have the feeling the engine might go bang!

Even if they've charged you £200 too much, it still doesn't seem they've done what they said they would do.

It's no use some jumped up salesman saying "yeah, I'll give you Megane power" if it's only going to increase by 10-odd bhp. That's not what you were sold.

Worth getting it rolling roaded when it's all completed and then go back and kick off big time... then go for more compensation!

I wouldn't take what Renault Huddersfield say as gospel truth either, in my dealings with them.
But I hope you get to the bottom of this.
