  172 berg, Fabia VRS
So i pulled up outside a shop and noticed my driverside headlight was out so i put my hand behind the headlight to try and fiddle with the wires then the engine cut out!!
Tried to start it and it just turns over but wont start also a red engine light with stop in the middle is flashing!
Anyone know whats happend or a solution??
Thanks

You left the engine running before fiddling with the lights?

Try your othr key the red lights showing an imobiliser issue,.

The "Red engine light with STOP in it" is not the imob light. Its the general fault lightand and it flashing like that says he has a Level 2 fault due to something really important either giving up and so is not responding or its not connected to the vehicles network and so needs plugging in again.

If it were an imob issue the vehicle wouldn't be turning over as the UCH inhibites the starter motor control relays operation.

Could be wiring, could be a component failure due to age or fatigue in these temps or even a fuse seeing as you've been fiddling but if its not working again later today it will need CLIP time or a very good diagnostic elsewhere.

Right so i had a look behind the headlight during the day and noticed the top of what i believe to be the carbon canister had popped off, stuck it back on tried to start it but it just turns over and still wont start plus i still have the light on the dash!!

So would the top of the canister popping off cause the engine to stall and create a problem with it starting?
Im really stuck on this now and urgently need the car for work and general use,
thanks :)
