I am wonding which engine routes i could take with it. For some more power.

its just a 1.2 at the moment,

I thought maybe the F16 would be too big and heavy?
I dont know much about the other options/clio engine types for this model.

Any advice would be great.

(this is my Girlfriends account, She has a clio too!)

Its proberly easiest to get a willy or valver lump. You could even go down the route of a r5 1.4 turbo or volvo 1.7 turbo engine if you fancy a little challenge.

1.4 energy engine is a straight swap. Both the 1.2 and 1.4 look identical from the outside and the 1.4 has an extra 15/20 bhp. Other options would be the rsi 1.8 8v engine (110bhp), or the 1.8 16v (137bhp) or 2.0 16v (150bhp). With anything other than the 1.4 though you would have to change the brakes, suspension and a few other bits and pieces. Gearbox and driveshafts can be re-used with any of the engines though.

I was just looking at a Volvo engined Valver on eBay earlier, Very nice and a dificult swap i'd imagine.

The 1.4 Energy sounds good, but i was after somthing a little beefier.

So is the mounts for the rsi 1.8 8v engine (110bhp), or the 1.8 16v (137bhp) or 2.0 16v (150bhp) engines the same?

I guess you'd need most parts, shafts, hubs, subframe?

What is the wiring issues?,

if you want to put a 1.8 16v or 2.0 you need the following:

engine, ecu, loom, fuel pump, engine mounts (can use the 1.2 ones if you want but I don't think they are as strong), springs and shocks, calipers and carriers from a 16v to uprate the brakes (As well as new discs/pads). Think thats about it tbh.

you can re-use the gearbox, driveshafts, hubs, subframe off the 1.4. The wiring is also just plug and play. I would definately go with a 2.0 over the 1.4 or 1.7 turbo.

forgot to say you would also need the 16v manifold and downpipe, and preferably exhaust but could re-use the 1.2 from the downpipe back.

mmmmm, Sounds a good plan, I would be better buying a rear ended valver and striping it myself, rather as buying it all seperate.

I guess the 2.0 engine is out the Williams?

If i was going ahead, the Valver engine would be best i think, Cost and avaliabilty.

The wiring, is it the full car loom, like fuse box under dash and all steering column connections right throgh to the engine etc?

I'm ok with the spanners but just not sure on where the loom goes or where it is connected/needs to be connected etc?

Yep buy a wvalver and use that if you want.

2.0 bottom end cam come from a Megan the Megan head won't work easiys so use your 1.8 head its not as good as the Williams one but it fits and works and more powerful than a stock 1.8 bottom end.

Get a Haynes manual to help with the wiring.
