Clio Extreme '55 - Heating malfunction and slight engine over-heating

Right, my girlfriend has got a Renault Clio Extreme '55, I can't remember the engine size but I'm pretty sure it's a 1.2. I haven't had a chance to look at the car yet as I am away on business but I thought I'd post here before I get home tomorrow to see if it's a common issue, if there are any fixes for it, etc.

This is the e-mail I received from her after I told her to send me the details in an e-mail:

"Basically the switch that enables you to turn off the heater, and vary the airflow (it has dials 0-4) no longer works. It clicks when turned, but doesn't do anything so my heater (or cold air) is permanently on full blast.

That about all I can say really.. Besides that my dashboard is getting hotter than usual, and the engine heat is 1 bar above the usual."

Obviously, I can't figure it out until I see the car, but from this I'm guessing it's an electrical fault somewhere?

Also, one more thing, does anybody have a passenger window control unit (the whole piece of plastic with the button in the door armrest) as hers has stopped functioning.

Cheers guys,
Matt
